About Me

Hello, my name is Gareth Morgan.
Since 2009, I've worked in partnership on projects around education and development of non-core subjects such as outdoor learning and the arts, especially their impact on improving literacy attainment. I recently completed the development of Opportunity Notts, an online learning passport for children and young people in Nottingham designed to help them build their confidence and find their talent. I am co-convener of the Nottingham Primary Parliament and have sat on the working groups for Nottingham’s Cultural Education Partnership – ChalleNGe, STEMCity learning panel and the Festival of Science and Curiosity. I also ran the Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded Key Stage 1 Wollaton Park Camps scheme, in collaboration with the Bulwell EAZ partnership, which is now used as UK wide exemplar practice in literacy development and learning outside the classroom, and has led to other leaning away projects at different sites across the region.

I am currently the coordinator of Robin's Tales, the education programme for Nottingham's Hoodwinked sculpture trail, which will take place in Nottingham in summer 2018.

In my theatre work, I was Literary Associate Artist at Nottingham Playhouse from 2014 to '17. Other regional theatres and companies I've worked with include Bristol Old Vic, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Manchester Royal Exchange, Derby Theatre, Excavate, Zest Theatre, New Perspectives Theatre Company, Theatre Writing Partnership - where I was Literary Assistant for two years (until we lost our ACE funding) - and Cast in Doncaster – where I was Literary Associate. I'm currently President of The Dramaturg's Network

I read Drama at the University of Bristol, graduating with first class honours, and have a master's degree in Dramaturgy from the University of Exeter. I'm an internationalist and have been part of all 3 of the Nottingham European Arts and Theatre festivals and the Convention Européenne du Théâtre 2011. I have worked with partners from Albania, Austria, Bosnia, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Kosovo, Malta, Poland, the Republic of Ireland and Zimbabwe. I'm looking forward to adding the USA to the list of places I've worked and collaborated with.
